Provision of Psychiatric Services: Counseling and Psychological Services

Purpose: 

To describe requirements for receiving psychiatric services at CAPS.

Applies to: 

All eligible KU students who receive services at CAPS.

Policy Statement: 

In order for all symptoms to be evaluated for medical causes before the psychiatric appointment, a physical exam and lab work must be completed prior to scheduling the appointment. CAPS clients receiving medication from the CAPS psychiatrist will also be involved in regular, ongoing therapy with a CAPS therapist.

Consequences: 

Referral to another treatment provider.
